NAFDAC Requirements For Water Production

1. Borehole standard should be above 60m and should be 30m away from septic tank or soak away.
2. From the borebole, a submersible pump of 1hp, 1.5hp, or 2hp will pump it to a holding tank called RAW WATER TANK.

• From the raw water tank, a 1hp pump takes the water to a treatment plant :

* SAND MODULE: removes particles lie rust, sand, dust, stone, etc.

* ACTIVATED CARBON MODULE: removes taste, odour, and colour.

* RESIN MODULE: these are of two kinds:

• ION EXCHANGE: removes ion contant In the water
• WATER SOFTNER: removes the hardness (i.e. magnesium, calcium carbonate) in water to mmake it soft.

1. The water then flows through 2 FILTER CARTRIDGES: (5mic. and 1mic.) before it goes into a holding tank called SEMi-TREATED WATER TANK.
2. A REVERSE OSMOSIS MACHINE: then collects the water from the semi-treated water tank through a 1hp pump. The reverse osmosis machine has 2 water outputs; concentrated waterand purified water. The concentrated water goes to the drainage, while the purified water goes to a holding tank called TREATED WATER TANk. The reverse osmosis machine purifies water by dissolving solids in water to purify it.
3. An OZONE GENERATORis placed above the treated water tank. The ozonator generates gas into the water in the treated water tank to disinfect the water thereby making it free trom bacteria, virus, etc. it also increases the shell life of the water to at least one year.

• From the treated water tank, a 1hp pump takes the water through 4 lines filters (5mic. Filter, 3mic, filter, carbon filter, 1mic filter, and 0.5mic filter). From there, it goes into an ULTRAVIOLET WATER STERILZER(It kills bacteria and micro organisms in the water) which is the final stage of water treatment before it goes into the water packaging machine for producton.
